We raised over $16,000 dollars at the Swimathon!!! Thank you very much to all who participated, contributed and help run the event that demonstrates every year what a fantastic community I am blessed part of. Many, many thanks from the bottom of my heart.
We will combine practices this week to one practice from 8am - 9am.
Championship Meets
Entries for each meet will be posted on the website in the early part of the week. Warm - up times will be sent out as soon as they are received. We will have volunteer obligations at both the Bronze and Silver meets.
Bay Ridge is honored to be hosting the Gold Meet this year. This will be our largest fundraiser and will require the work of many. We will especially need help with set up and with concessions (including food donations). Items needed for concessions will be sent out later this week. Thank you in advance for your help in showcasing our beautiful spot on the Bay (let's not forget the home pool advantage!).
Our end of year picnic will be held on Sunday at 5pm. A - L families should bring a salad and M - Z families should bring a dessert to share A main dish will be provided.
Good luck to all our Marlins competing this week!

Our meet this weekend is at home. Please be at the pool at 7am. Our spirit them is "Fireworks" (Think neon and tie dye.) The list of items needed for concessions is attached. We will take a few moments to honor our coach and senior swimmer, Megan Reiter.
We wrap up our season with our league's time qualified Championship Meets. These meets bring the twenty teams of the league together in a way that levels out the competition for all swimmers. The Bronze Meet will be held on Wednesday, July 20 at Mears, the Silver Meet on Saturday, July 23 at Hunt Meadow and the Gold Meet at Bay Ridge (!) on Sunday, July 24. To find out which meet you have qualified for please check the swimmers information on the website in the report labeled "Individual Top Times." If you have qualified for more then one meet, you may choose which meet to attend, but can only swim those events that fit into that meet's time standards. (For example, if you have Silver and Gold events, plan to swim at the Silver, you cannot swim those events in which you have Gold times.) You are still able to qualify for events at Saturday's meet. If you plan to attend a Championship Meet, you must notify Coach Claudia (aauth@comcast.net) by 1pm on Sunday. We will not enter any swimmers into any meets unless we have heard from you. Please let Coach Claudia know which three events you would like to (and are qualified to) swim. Entry fees have been included in your registration fees. The Championship Meets are always fun, our swimmers usually do very well at all levels of competition and I encourage you to participate. More information on hosting the Gold Meet, as well as the year end picnic to come.
On to the Swimathon. The 10th Annual Bay Ridge 24 Hour Swimathon to benefit Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology is this weekend from 1pm, Saturday to 1pm, Sunday. We hope to have good weather, food, fun and lots of swimming. Lew Bobbit's band will be playing at 6pm Saturday. Please come and join us. Swimmers 10 and over (who have completed 100 laps by 8pm) are able to sleep over on the Clubhouse. Waivers, pledge sheets and the ability to make an online donation (new!) are all on the website. I look forward to seeing you there.

Dear Allyson,
We were so excited to receive the food donations from the Bay Ridge Swim Team. We understand that the Mayo and Mears swim teams also contributed in this food drive. Please know that your thoughtful donations of food and money will help those in dire need with nowhere to turn. Your support will touch the lives of our struggling neighbors with nourishment, comfort and hope. Thank you to each parent, coach and child for sharing your generous spirits and caring hearts with us. This is Food Links 20th year of serving Anne Arundel County. Thank you for your support and being such a community partner in this mission.
Best wishes,
Paula

BAY RIDGE KIDS TRIATHLON AND FUN RUN
Sign up continues through Wednesday, June 29 for the Triathlon (ages 7 - up) at the pool. No need to sign up for the Fun Run (6 & under), just show up. The waiver and bike inspection form can be found on the website. Capital Bikes will be performing bike inspections at the pool on Thursday, June 30 from 5 - 6:30pm at the pool. (No need to re-inspect bikes that were approved for the Trux Park Tri.) Bikes can also be inspected at Capital Bikes (436 Chinquapin Round Road), please bring a form with you.
THERE IS MANDATORY MEETING FOR PARENTS AND ATHLETES ON FRIDAY, JULY 1 AT 6:30PM AT THE TRANSITION AREA (located across from the DeWitts' house). All waivers and inspections forms need to be turned at this time and race numbers will be issued. The transition area will close at 7:40am on race day and the first wave will go off at 8am!
The Race Committee suggests you talk your child through every aspect of the race. You are encouraged to take your child to swim the course, informally and safely, with other participants under the watchful eye of a few parents. Children should by well hydrated prior to the race day. Their race day outfit should allow for their race number to be pinned on the front of their T-shirt or shorts, with easy access to the tear off bottom. Children who will simply wear their bathing suits need to have a belt that allows their number to be visible from the front. Every effort is being made to make this a safe and fun event for the children. Please do your part by adhering to the deadlines and answering the call to volunteer. Thank you.
Any questions regarding the Tri, please contact Joe Mulhern at joluprod@verizon.net.

May 30, 2011
Our first practice is tomorrow, Tuesday, May 31. Ages 11-18 will be held from 4:30pm - 5:15pm and ages 5 - 10 will be from 5:15pm - 6pm. While practice is being held during the pool's regular hours of operation we are unable to use the whole pool and we ask for your patience. Please be respectful of the other pool members on what will probably be some hot, crowded days at the pool. The upside is that the pool is a very comfortable temperature for all our young Marlins.
If a practice is canceled due to weather or unforeseen pool closures every effort will be made to get the information onto the website, as well as in an email. However, there is no guarantee that you will be notified in a timely manner. If you do not think the conditions will allow for practice to be held and you have not heard from us, please do not send your child to the pool.
